Comet in Moominland (film)

Comet in Moominland (ムーミン谷の彗星, Mūmindani no Suisei) is an anime film by Telecable Benelux B.V., first released in Japan in 1992 as triple-feature with 2 shorter films. The story is based on the novel Comet in Moominland by Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish.

Plot Summary[]

Unusual things have been happening in Moominvalley. Moomin, Sniff, and Mii leave for the Observatory on the Lonely Mountains to confirm the Muskrat's words: a comet is about to hit Moominvalley and destroy the world. On the way, they meet Snufkin, the Hemulen, and the Snorks and they experience many adventures.

Synopsis[]

Our story begins with a ball-like figure sitting under a tree. Two legs and a tail emerges from the ball and it turns out that it is no other than the Moomintroll, picking a flower for his mother's garden. Sniff's voice can be heard calling for Moomin, as he comes running to the troll. He wonders what Moomin is up to and reminds him that they where supposed to go to the beach today.

Moominpappa is building the bridge for their big blue house and Moominmamma is painting the veranda. The Mymble's daughter comes out from the house and says farewell after leaving her sister in the hands of the Moomin's while she rests.

Trivia[]

  • Like with the anime, the film has an English dub. However the film's English dub has an entirely different voice cast due to it having been done by a different party, with none of the english cast from the Anime's BBC's broadcast reprising their roles.
  • There are some inconsistencies with the movie and the anime:
