Moomin Wiki is a repository of all information on life in Moominvalley, the fictional setting of numerous books, comics, and television programs, and the home of Moomintroll, his mother Moominmamma, his father Moominpappa, and many more charming and interesting characters.

Artist and writer Tove Jansson created the Moomin family in 1948. Jansson wrote eight novels about the Moomins, including Comet in MoominlandFinn Family MoomintrollMoominsummer Madness and Moominland Midwinter, and one book of short stories, Tales from Moominvalley. The Moomins also appeared in five picture books, and for five years, Jansson wrote and drew a daily Moomin comic strip. The strip was continued by her brother, Lars Jansson, for another fifteen years, and together they produced the most successful Finnish comic strip of all time.

The Moomin stories have been adapted many times, and in many languages, in Moomin television shows and films. The first TV adaptation, Die Muminfamilie, was made in Germany in 1959 with marionettes. The first animated series, the 1969 Japanese show Mūmin, made many changes to the Moomin characters and stories and was not approved by Jansson, who withdrew the rights to the characters. A more faithful follow-up, New Moomin, ran for 52 episodes in 1972.

The most popular television adaptations were the 1977 Polish felt-animation series Opowiadania Muminków (The Moomins) and the 1990 Japanese cartoon Tanoshii Mūmin Ikka (Moomin). Both series have been translated into many languages, and continue to enchant children and families who love the peaceful and adventurous characters. The most recent Moomin adaption is the 2019 television series Moominvalley, which has already gained a following and introduced many more people to the world of Moomin and his family and friends.
